Are you a non-technical person who is building a tech company without tech leadership? If you are someone who is bootstrapping their company and products, you need to read this!
EBIDTA stands for Earnings Before Investment Debts Taxes & Assets
Investment refers to non-operating income or gains from investments, such as dividends, interest, or capital gains.
Debt includes both interest expenses and principal payments.
Taxes encompass income taxes and any other taxes applicable to the company.
Assets represent the company’s total assets, including current and non-current assets.
Proposed EBITDA-like metric:
(Earnings from Operations + Non-Operating Investment Income - Interest Expenses - Taxes) / Total Assets
This metric attempts to capture the company’s earnings before considering investment income, debt servicing, taxes, and asset values. It’s essential to recognize that this is a hypothetical construct and not a widely accepted financial metric.
Key components:
Earnings from Operations: Net income from core business operations, excluding non-operating items.
Non-Operating Investment Income: Gains or income from investments, such as dividends, interest, or capital gains.
Interest Expenses: Payments made towards debt obligations.
Taxes: Income taxes and any other applicable taxes.
Total Assets: The company’s total assets, including current and non-current assets.
Limitations:
This metric does not account for the timing of investments, debt payments, or tax liabilities, which can impact the company’s cash flow. It may not accurately reflect the company’s ability to generate earnings from its core operations, as non-operating investment income can significantly influence the result.
The inclusion of total assets as a denominator can make the metric sensitive to changes in asset values, rather than focusing solely on earnings.
While there is no direct equivalent to “earnings before investment debt taxes assets,” the EBITDA-like metric provides a framework for analyzing a company’s earnings, incorporating investment income, debt servicing, taxes, and assets. However, its limitations and assumptions should be carefully considered when interpreting the results.
How would having a full board of chief executives by your side change your business?
We are talking about a CEO, a CTO, a CMO, a CPO, a CCO, a COO, a CLO, & a CFO.
It is an easy way to add a $100,000 per month burn rate to your business.
Did you know that you can have all those people on your team for as little as $2,000 per month?
